I really appreciate all that spent some time celebrating the life of Bob Nalbandian tonight. Bob was more than just a friend for Neeley and I. I always thought of Bob as a part of the CMS, not a guest. He allowed Neeley and I into his circle, including us in his movies even when we had nothing to contribute.
A fun story about Bob. He called me one day asking me for my mailing address. I asked Jim what for, and he said he had something that might fit the rock n roll motif of Pinball PA. I gave him the address, and a few days later, I got a package… and what a package it was. It was filled with better stuff than the Rock N Roll hall of fame has. It was original flyers for the legendary backyard parties of Van Halen, Metallica, etc. it was some of the original flyers from gigs by Motley Crue, Ratt, Dokken and more. It was truly amazing. I called him to thank him, but he just kept saying “I just wanted it to be appreciated”. It was never about him… he wouldn’t have that. It was a microcosm of the man himself.
Knowing Bob the way I did, he would have hated a six hour dedicated to him. He would, however, be proud if people were watching his documentaries or listening to SKULLSESSIONS and keeping the history of heavy metal alive in new minds.
I miss my friend tremendously tonight.
Let’s remember him the way he would have wanted today. Have a watch and celebrate Bob!
