Lonnie Vencent Returns To The Bulletboys!
In a recent social media announcement, BulletBoys have confirmed the return of their original bassist and co-founder, Lonnie Vencent, marking his fifth stint with the band since its inception in 1987. Vencent, now 60, has been part of BulletBoys during various periods (1987–2000, 2006, 2009–2014, 2019–2022). The current announcement brings him back into the fold as they start recording their tenth studio album.
Marq Torien, the lead singer and the only continuous member throughout BulletBoys' nearly four-decade history, shared the news on Instagram on December 7, 2024. The post, which also features drummer Fred Aching, celebrates the reunion with enthusiasm, stating, “3 Real Badass Mothertruckers!!! ... So it begins!!! 1st day of tracking for our New Album!!! It’s was a completely magical day!! So stoked to have the man who started this Band with me!!! Let me reintroduce you to .. Mr. LONNIE VENCENT!!!” Torien's message hints at exciting new music on the horizon, encouraging fans to get ready for "a whirlwind of Badassery."
This announcement comes after the departure of guitarist Ira Black and bassist Brad Lang from the band's most recent lineup, which also included Torien and Aching. The band's history has been marked by a revolving door of musicians with Torien at the helm, maintaining BulletBoys' identity through the years.
BulletBoys first gained fame with their self-titled debut album in 1988, released under Warner Brothers Records, which included the hit single "Smooth Up In Ya." This track helped the album achieve Gold certification by the RIAA. Over the years, BulletBoys have released nine studio albums, with this new project set to be their tenth, adding to their discography which includes albums like "Freakshow" (1991), "Za-Za" (1993), and "From Out of the Skies" (2018).
This reunion not only brings back a key original member but also signifies a new chapter for BulletBoys as they continue to create music and engage with their fanbase.
