In the annals of rock music history, some career achievements are so extraordinary they seem almost unbelievable—yet often go unnoticed. For the legendary rock band ZEBRA, one such distinction stands out: they are the longest-running American band still touring with all original members intact. Formed in New Orleans in 1975, ZEBRA—comprising Randy Jackson (vocals/guitar), Felix Hanemann (bass/keyboards), and Guy Gelso (drums)—has performed together every year for an astounding 50 years. To mark their 50th anniversary, ZEBRA has returned to the studio, crafting the follow-up to their 2003 release, Zebra IV—their last full-length album. Reuniting with iconic producer Jack Douglas, known for his work with AEROSMITH, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Patti Smith, CHEAP TRICK, and NEW YORK DOLLS, the band is revisiting the magic of their first two albums, which remain their most successful to date. A new single is slated for release this spring, with more details on the upcoming album to be shared soon.
ZEBRA’s enduring legacy as a powerhouse in rock music, coupled with their unmatched consistency as an original lineup, makes their 50th anniversary a historic event for fans old and new.
