Atlanta, GA – Brent Hinds, the former lead guitarist and vocalist of the heavy metal band MASTODON, was killed in a tragic car accident in southeast Atlanta on Wednesday night, August 20, 2025. He was 51 years old. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death, according to Atlanta News First.
The Atlanta Police Department reported that officers responded to a collision at the intersection of Memorial Dr. SE and Boulevard SE around 11:35 p.m. Hinds, who was operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle, was found unresponsive at the scene and was pronounced deceased by medical personnel. The other driver, a female operating a BMW SUV, remained at the scene. Preliminary investigations indicate that the SUV driver failed to yield while making a left turn, colliding with Hinds, who was traveling west on Boulevard. The Atlanta Police Department’s Accident Investigations Unit is continuing to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
