LISTEN UP! We lost a real one today! Dave Mason, the co-founder of TRAFFIC and a total rock and roll titan, has passed away at 79 years old. This guy wasn’t some watered-down pop star. He was a road dog! He was the real deal! He spent SIXTY YEARS crushing it on stage and keeping the spirit of rock alive!
The news just dropped that he died peacefully on Sunday, April 19. He had a killer dinner with his wife, sat down for a nap with his dog, and went out on his own terms. THAT IS METAL! No fake stuff, no crying—just a legend finishing his story exactly how he wanted!
Dave was a beast on the guitar and a songwriting machine. He played with everyone! We’re talking Jimi Hendrix, THE ROLLING STONES, and FLEETWOOD MAC! If you don’t know his hits like "Feelin' Alright," then you need to go crank them up right now and show some respect!
What I loved most about this guy? NO FAKE TRACKS! Dave hated that "smoke and mirrors" garbage. He didn’t use backing loops or overdubbed vocals. When you saw him live, it was raw, it was loud, and it was AUTHENTIC! That’s the kind of fire we live for!
He had to quit touring recently because his body was breaking down, but he fought like a warrior until the very end. Even when his heart was acting up and he had nasty infections, he kept his head high. He even put out a book recently for the next generation. He never stopped!
Raise your fist and blast some classic rock today for Dave Mason! He lived the life we all dream of and he never sold out! HELL YEAH!
