Sodom’s Controversial 1994 Masterpiece GET WHAT YOU DESERVE Returns As Massive Box Set - Remixed By Original Guitarist Andy Brings
Hamburg, Germany – November 26, 2025 – German thrash metal legends SODOM have announced that their polarizing sixth studio album Get What You Deserve will be reissued on February 27, 2026 through BMG as a lavish, definitive box set. The 1994 release – often cited as one of the most uncompromising records of the decade – has been completely remastered and newly remixed by former SODOM guitarist Andy Brings, who performed on the original recording.
The box set includes:
-
The remastered and remixed Aber Bitte Mit Sahne EP
-
A bonus double LP featuring the band’s first live show with drummer Guido “Atomic Steif” Richter
-
A DVD containing additional rare live footage
-
All three cover variants: the infamous original “hotel room” artwork, the censored band-photo version, and the never-before-released intended cover painted by renowned metal artist Andreas Marschall featuring the character “Knarrenheinz”
Speaking about the reissue, Andy Brings didn’t mince words:
“There’s nothing nice about this album — not the sound, not the lyrics. It wasn’t supposed to be. It was meant to be completely unfriendly. The others were the polished ones.”
Frontman and bassist Thomas “Angelripper” Such paid emotional tribute to the late Guido “Atomic Steif” Richter, who passed away on August 31, 2025 at the age of only 57:
“With Atomic Steif on drums we became an unstoppable machine — in the studio and on stage. It breaks our hearts that he passed away far too soon and can’t witness how songs like ‘Jabba The Hutt’, ‘Sodomized’ and ‘Silence Is Consent’ are being rediscovered and loved again. He was the German Dave Lombardo — an incredible drummer!”
Released at a time when the metal world was rapidly shifting toward groove-oriented, clinically produced sounds, Get What You Deserve was SODOM’s deliberate middle finger to the early-’90s zeitgeist.
“Back then every band suddenly wanted to be PANTERA or MACHINE HEAD,” Brings recalls. “Incredibly clean, sterile, and technically perfect. We didn’t. Couldn’t, weren’t, didn’t want to!”
Angelripper agrees: “With Get What You Deserve we wanted to return to our roots — more VENOM, more MOTÖRHEAD. Andy’s punk roots also came through stronger, which was right up my alley. Short songs, maximum impact, straight in your face — the way it should be!”
The 16-track album remains one of the rawest, most aggressive statements in SODOM’s 40-plus-year career and a cult favorite among fans who cherish the band’s refusal to follow trends.
The Get What You Deserve deluxe box set arrives February 27, 2026 via BMG and is available for pre-order now.
